‘ACRE’ DEFINED
An acre of land, to be exact, is 43,560 square feet.
The term ‘acre’ comes from a farming background and is now used to measure land regardless of the purpose of the land.
Acre is derived from the Latin word “ager” and Greek word “agros”, meaning field.
The term was traditionally used in farming to represent the area that could be plowed in one day by a farmer and a yoke of oxen.
